Ella wrote, " I'm looking for a dress/outfit for the holiday of Purim, which is also a dress-up holiday like Halloween. I'm being Maleficent, the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty. The only difficult part is that I need something that covers my elbows and knees. The dress should probably be black with purple detailing, or feathers or something like that. Thanks!!!"
Jews around the world commemorate Purim on the 14th day of Adar (usually in March). For you kids who don't know, Purim is one big celebration. What they're celebrating is one of the greatest stories of all time as told in the book of Esther. Esther, you see, was a beautiful Jewish woman living in Persia and part of King Ahasuerus' harem. Even though the king didn't know Esther was a Jew, she risked everything (including her life) to compel the king to save her people. So today, when Jews celebrate Purim they're celebrating Esther and their deliverance from those who wished them dead. And what a gala it is! Adults drink until they don't know if they're Haman or Mordecai (the bad guy and the good guy in the story); they give money and gifts to those in need; and they dress up as colorful characters. Which brings us to Ella's request. We've put a few things together that we believe just may work for you, sweet girl. Enjoy!

3. Maleficent ($65), with slightly different variations in her costume.
