Kristi T. writes, "Hi there! Since it is summertime, I am looking for a great self tanner...however I don't want it to look fake and orange. I would get tan the natural way, but I live in Texas and it's just TOO HOT! I know if anyone can find a great product, you girls are the ones to go go! Please help, you guys are the best!"
Hey Kristi, Layla on the job for you! I may not live in Texas where it's too hot to tan, but I am well-versed in all things sunless tanners thanks to my paler-than-the-underbelly-of-a-whale genes (Thanks, Dad!). Rest assured that all the products below have at one time or another been rubbed into a trial patch on my arm, and I'm bringing you nothing but the best! You'll look naturally golden in no time!
1 - ModelCo Tan Self-Tanning Gloves ($36 per 4 gloves) These gloves may be expensive, but they are this summer's go-to sunless tanner. I had a hard time tracking them down because they're sold out all over the place! I like them because you don't get those nasty brown palms!
2 - St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Bronzing Mousse ($28) The tanner of the stars! Seriously, St. Tropez is the brand stars use when they want a rich color quickly--no gradual build here. Also, the St. Tropez website has great application videos for a error-free tan.
3 - L'Oreal Body Expertise Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer + Natural Skin Tone Enhancer ($9) My favorite tried and true drugstore brand. I like that it adds a little shimmer to my arms and legs after I apply it.
4 - Laura Mercier Bronzing Gel ($32) Don't forget your face! This bronzing gel should go on after you moisturize (or mix it with your moisturizer!) and before you add makeup. It'll give you a rosy, tanned glow!
5 - Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel ($33) If you're wavering between any of these tanners, let me make your mind up for you now. Clarins wins. It's the most well-reviewed and well-loved self-tanner on the market.
6 - L`Occitane Sunshine Lotion Self-Tanner Progressive Natural Tan ($26) If you're a stickler for a tanner with the least amount of chemical smell, this is your best bet. It's got a subtle fragrance that's way more summer time lotion than fake tanner!
7 - Guerlain Terracotta Sunless Luxurious Self-Tanning Balm ($48) The most pricey, but well worth it. The oils give you a silky, healthy glow while the tanner does it's work--and quickly. You'll see color from the bronzer immediately.
