Jonathan writes: "As a reader of Uncrate, I secretly follow your site to get the insight on things to get my wife. We are about to go to Manhattan, NY for the first time the 15-18th of December. Is there something every girl needs for New York that maybe we overlooked? I would like to surprise her with something at the airport when we depart or as soon as we step out of JFK. Thanks ladies, Jonathan"
Hey Jonathan! Carlota here; I worked in NY for 8 years and I could get you around the Big Apple with my eyes closed. Needless to say I'm stoked to help you, but since you're leaving for your trip tomorrow we can't really help with gifts at the airport. However we can totally suggest awesome destinations for dinner, dessert, shopping and sightseeing that will leave you speechless. If you're also totally set on giving your wife something, I suggest a gift card to Century 21 Department Stores, which is nicknamed "NY's Best Kept Secret" for the most coveted designer duds and accessories for men, women and children...even your home. She'll be able to snag a fabulous designer scarf, warm gloves and a mod hat for your NY trip for little dime. Enjoy your trip and stay warm! It's cold here. XOXO
1 - Holiday Windows at Saks Fifth Avenue
2 - Holiday Windows at Lord & Taylor
3 - Gaga Workshop Holiday Windows at Barney's New York
4 - Holiday Shops at Bryant Park Do a little shopping in their Christmas Village and ice skate at Citi Pond, which is (in my opinion) the best outdoor ice rink in NYC.
*Just For Fun* Danny's Warehouse Tap Shoes - Just in case she decides to audition for a part in the Christmas Spectacular!
Of course I also suggest visiting Rockefeller Center as well as Radio City Musical Hall to get you into the jolly holiday New Yorker spirit.
5 - Norma's at Le Parker Meridien Hotel - the most scrumptious breakfast you will ever eat! Munch on Chocolate Chip French Toast topped with fresh strawberries and 1whipped cream as well as Crab Benedict. Make a reservation the minute you land!
6 - Serendipity 3 - A fabulous lunch destination as well as dessert destination. Treat her to a High Heel Pump (prosciutto and melted brie on raisin pumpernickel bread with russian dressing) followed by a Cinnamon Fudge Sundae.
7 - Ferrara's - A must for every visitor! Jump in a cab and take a ride down to Little Italy. Your jaw will drop as you bite into their fresh Italian pastries especially their canollis. Don't forget to sip an espresso while you're there.

Carlota here: I'm a true girly-girl. I love strapless dresses, skinny jeans, basic ribbed tanks, lace intimates, patent peep-toes, jeweled sandals, buttery-soft leather satchels, sparkly pendants....you get the point! I also love to save cash when I can, so consider me your personal concierge when you're looking for luxury-for-less. I also have a crazy husband, two little munchkins (Carlo and Milly) and a furry yellow Lab. All of them are sweet and lovable, but they certainly do occupy a good portion of my day. However I do L-O-V-E shopping with a passion and finding amazing deals for myself as well as others.
