Says Lindsey: "A wonderfully close girlfriend is graduating from law school and will spend the majority of the summer studying for the bar. I am relatively unemployed (i hear something about a recession going on...) and I need something special, personal, and (here's the tough part) affordable. My friend loves Kate Spade, JCrew, Silver Jewelry, and lives for white pants and polo shirts- of course with the collar popped :) Thoughts? Please?"
Hey, Lindsey, this is Marian. Your honorable friend sounds like a woman of precise taste, but I hope she'll be corrupted by enjoy some of the following.
Just to get this out of the way first, yes, 1) The Last Billable Hour (out of print, so the price varies) has been mentioned on Outblush before, but I didn't feel like I could leave it out; it's a satirical mystery set in a law firm that is widely praised by the lawyers of my acquaintance.
I also wanted to be sure that I included a few treats from her favorite brands. They may be a little bit pricey, but these 2) pajamas from J. Crew ($70) look modern, classy, and comfy all at once, while their 3) zip tee cardigan ($50) is cute and quite wearable. When it comes to kate spade, this 4) umbrella ($35) is an affordable standout. How darling would this be on a rainy day, seriously?
Now if your favorite legalista (SURE it's a word) likes silver jewelry, and she doesn't know about SilverShake yet, you are about to do her a favor, in an evil kind of way. Because this is a website that sells silver jewelry. Most of it rather cheaply. A LOT of silver jewelry. Shown here are 5) a hammered sterling silver choker ($39), 6) the topaz and blue CZ flower dome ring ($80), 7) a square citrine ring (on sale for $50) and 8) a green amethyst and tsavorite ring (on sale for $74). There are plenty of more affordable pieces that are nice as well.
It's mostly sheer mischief that's making me suggest 9) a copy of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which is a really ludicrous DS game wherein you pretend to be a heroic young man who looks like this.
Congratulations and good luck to your friend, Lindsey, and thanks for thinking of us!
