Personal Shopper: An Orange, Pink, or Coral Bridesmaid Dress for Chels

Chels wrote: "I need your help... I have a family member's wedding coming up in March. I'm in the wedding party and need a FAB dress. The color choices I have are bright oranges, pinks, and corals. I prefer solid, but I'm open-minded. I'm 6' tall (and don't want to look like a hooch... or a granny; keep length in mind), I have broad-ish shoulders, and I'm pretty hippie, but otherwise, slim. I like vintage/boho... Lace, chiffon, silk, etc. Pleeeeease help!"

mitchy-dino.jpgMitchy here: I'd be happy to never put on another pair of pants. What this means for you is that I love all kinds of dress shopping - especially cute patterned dresses and party dresses. I also love colorful apparel and jewelry as well as vintage-styled home decor. Other things I don't usually put on resumes: expert cat wrangler, road tripper, and connoisseur of bad movies.

I agree. It's only ever dress requests. I do love looking at cute dresses, but it sure would be nice to see anything other than dress requests for the personal shopper requests every now and then.

If the only Personal Shopper requests they get are for dresses and weddings, then that's what they'll be answering. It's not like the editors are purposefully doing it as some sort of Dress Conspiracy.

First, thanks for sticking up for us, Tiffany! You're absolutely right.

Next, @ agreed and nomore, Tiff's right (as I just said.) We get between 5-10 Personal Shopper requests each day, and I am absolutely NOT KIDDING when I say that 90% of them are requests for bridesmaid dresses or wedding guest dresses or formal dresses or a warm winter coat or wide-calf boots or some version of something we've done a million times before.

Having said that, this doesn't mean we don't like fulfilling them. It DOES mean two things, though. First, anything that comes through that has a different spin on it will get snapped up right quick (our editors get to call "dibs" on requests - it's very complicated and professional, I know.) Second, it means that these dress requests all run together and become less of a priority to the editors. It's only natural.

So the bottom line is that if you have ANY kind of question for us, send it in! No issue is too silly or insignificant (we're women; we obsess over the details just like you do.) And if you really need our help finding a dress, ask away - just make the request as personalized to you as possible to increase your chances of having your request chosen.
