Emotions are complicated, and kids need some help to interpret what's going on in there. The plush Mixed Feelings Kimochis ($14) assign characters to five feelings: loved, grateful, jealous, scared, and shy. Not that we need to control how the think about what they're feeling, but kids just need to nice nudge in the right direction.

I love the idea of these - I've got a two year old and I'm right in the midst of trying to help her understand what she's feeling, so that she can learn what to do with all these scary emotions that overwhelm her. I can see how these would really help with that. But more basic emotions might be a bit better don't you think? Things like happy, sad, angry, tired, hurt, etc. Grateful & loved in particular seem a bit abstract as reaching tools at the kind of ages these would suit.

More basic emotion kimochis... sounds like a DIY craft project to us.
