Today we watched with bated breath as Apple announced a slew of updates to their product line. So, on the eve of the holiday shopping season (yes, really), did Uncle Steve leave a lump of coal in our stocking or did he bequeath us with more fabulous shiny treasures? Let's take a look at what the little Apple elves have in store for us:
MacBook ($999): The new unibody enclosure and sleek rounded curves will have your friends seething with gadget envy. The 13.3" MacBook also sports the glass Multi-Touch trackpad found in the MacBook Pro line and a super-powered battery that'll last seven hours on a single charge.
iMac ($1,199, 21.5" model): For starters, the two iMac sizes have been bumped up from 20" and 24" to 21.5" and a whopping 27", respectively. The new iMacs now feature eye-catching LED-backlit displays, plus the new Magic Mouse (see below). We think we'll be seeing the new iMacs in the background of every TV show pretty soon.
Magic Mouse ($69): Good-bye, Mighty Mouse (and all those tangly legal issues with its name). Hello, Magic Mouse! Apple's new Bluetooth mouse is a revolutionary Multi-Touch mouse that dispenses with old-fashioned buttons and might just be the news that carpal tunnel sufferers have been waiting for.
Mac Mini ($599, 2.26GHz model): So as not to be left out, the humble mini got a speed and memory boost. There's even a new Mac mini server ($999), if you're into that sort of thing. Hurray for the mini!
Hey, looks like those Apple elves are gonna be pretty busy the next couple months. Tell us what you think!
