We love to seize the opportunity to celebrate each and every day - after all, the daily grind can be, well, a grind. We're learning that there are many holidays out there that may not have reached "Hallmark" calendar status, but they still count and deserve to be recognized. Preferably with wine. With that being said, we bring to you this very special day (cue "The More You Know" theme song).
June 1st is National Running Day! Running's such a cheap and effective workout, we highly recommend trying it out. We generally feel a lot better after a run outside than we do after a session on the elliptical in that cave we call a gym. While the basics of running are pretty simple, if you want to get an all-encompassing view of the sport, The Runner's World Complete Book of Women's Running: The Best Advice to Get Started, Stay Motivated, Lose Weight, Run Injury-Free, Be Safe, and Train for Any Distance ($11) covers everything you need to know. Seriously, everything - look how long that title is.
