That artsy sibling or yours got swept up in the street art craze too? Give them a gift this holiday season that can sit proudly on that overly modern modular coffee table of theirs. We recommend Faile Prints + Original 1999-2009 ($69), from the Brooklyn Museum. Just mention where it's from. That's all you'll need for their approval.
This book happens to be the first comprehensive collection from the artist collective, Faile. The Faile group was born out of a collaboration between Patrick McNeil, Patrick Miller, and Aiko Nakagawa. They were one of the first street artist groups to use wheatpasting in complex collage street art pieces. For a layperson, their mixed media work - from prints and graphic design, to paintings might be hard to make sense of. The Brooklyn Museum describes their work as "a modern interpretation of classic American collage and graphic printmaking that skillfully combines visual cues from a street aesthetic, pop culture, comics, and advertising." There ya go.
