Dr. Weil by Orthaheel Restore II Sandal

As our raging shin splints will happily tell you, flip-flops are not good for your feet - that is, unless they're these Dr. Weil by Orthaheel Restore II Sandals ($55). These teal summer sweeties are specially designed with a "biomechanical orthotic footbed" - fancy talk for a sole that actually supports your foot, helping to relieve pain and improve posture.

Au contraire, Outblush, flip-flops aren't the problem. It's the stilettos we cram our feet into that keep our feet in unnatural, unflexed positions all day long. The screaming pain when we put on flat shoes is because we're forcing our feet to stretch to be flat, the way they're designed to be, but our poor tootsies can't take it. It'd be like sitting in lotus position all day long, then trying to stand up and walk. :) (Disclaimer: I know all of this, and run in minimalist shoes, but still rock the occasional sky-high pump!)

"...our feet were designed to function best with nothing interfering with it’s normal motions especially between the sole of the foot and the ground. There is no scientific or clinical basis to put a heel under the foot that is non pathologic (no deformity). This is really hard to swallow as the majority of shoes designed have a heel."
