Fall skirts, like the J Crew Double-Serge Wool Flair Skirt ($128) are getting longer and heavier as the weather cools down. While the heavier part is awesome (who doesn't want to feel snuggly warm in a pair of tights and a wool skirt?), it's the longer part that's worrisome to those of us on the short side of the spectrum. But instead of sitting this trend out, use a few tricks to lengthen your legs in longer skirts: wear the skirt high on your waist and tuck in your shirt, opt for a shoe with a bit of a heel, and never under estimate the powers of a good tailor. Hemming that baby to knee length gives it that long-ish feel without swallowing you whole with too much fabric!
