Whoah. La Mer's The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid ($65) is so intense, we're hard pressed to explain what it actually does. Don't worry, you know we'll try. As its name suggests, this face cream/makeup primer offers broad spectrum protection against both types of harmful UV rays, but there's more. The fluid also contains "photonic spheres," which capture light, making you look continuously radiant, while "smart seaweeds" work to keep your skin richly moisturized and touchably smooth. Throw in (wait for it) tourmaline and malachite gemstones (what?), which apparently transform light energy into something to do with antioxidants, and you can understand the price tag, if not the full scope of purpose.
