Babo Botanicals Clear Zinc Sport Stick SPF 30

Our little baby babu got a tiny sunburn the first day we went to the beach this year. And it was horrifying. Our husband was mortified that we had doomed him to a life of skin cancer and the annoyance of apologetic, overbearing parents. To put our minds at ease, we bought Babo Botanicals Clear Zinc Sport Stick SPF 30 ($12). Made of mostly organic ingredients, it is also sweat-proof, which means our little baby babu can play outside until naptime without needing an immediate wash before falling asleep to prevent skin irritation. And goodness knows we would do anything to speed up the arrival of that naptime hour. And, of course, we'd do just as much to take care of babu's soft, squishy baby skin.

Best sunscreen for babes by far is Blue Lizard. No chemicals. It's awesome. Check it out. Did lots of research for my tot, not wanting to expose her to anything I didn't have to. Dermatologist recommended saying that most sunscreens have chemicals that are absorbed through skin and secreted through urine. Now, I couldn't have that, could I?

Any lotion- hell, any PRODUCT AT ALL- has chemicals in it. Water is a chemical. Botanical extracts are chemicals.

What's nice about this sunblock is that is uses zinc oxide, which is a physical sunblock, not a chemical sunscreen. It isn't absorbed into the skin and literally deflects sun from the skin. And zinc is good for sensitive skin (like on babies!), whereas titanium dioxide, another physical sunblock, can sometimes irritate skin.

I swim daily and use a zinc sunblock, just a regular ol' drugstore brand, and I never burn.
