Personal Shopper: Wine-kissed lip stain for Kellie K.
Kellie K. writes: "Hello, hello, outblush deities! Long time reader, first time personal shopper-requester...this has been plaguing me for a while. I need a great lipstain; I know there are great brands out there, but I just can't find the right shade! I am looking for a dark one, to mimic wine stained lips-- not too orange, not fuchsia, and no purple teeth! I'm so overwhelmed when I look online. Can you help me find a some shades to choose from so I don't keep buying them and never using them? I have fair skin, blue eyes, and am blonde (for the moment). Cheap is great, but if the lipstain is awesome I can go into the higher-end price zone. Thanks in advance! :) Kellie"
Dearest Kellie! Carlota here. I'm a fair blue-eyed blonde as well that LOVES lip stains so I can definitely help you. I wear lip stain almost every day. My personal favorite is Benetint from Benefit Cosmetics. It gives a great "was sipping Pinot Noir all night" look. I have Clinique's Black Honey lipstick, which is the closest thing I can get to a wine stained lip. I'm also pretty pale, blonde and blue eyed. You can layer it up (it'll get a little more glossy) for a darker look, or just do one swipe for a little bit of color.
