Personal Shopper: Warm-but-cute winter shoes for Emily

Emily writes, "Hey Outblush Staff! I've got a request, and I'm hoping you can help. I live in ballet flats during the warm summer months and boots in the bitter winter months. Now I'm looking for something to wear during those cooler days in between. I'm a grad student in NYC, so I do a fair amount of walking, but I'm not looking for an athletic shoe. Maybe an oxford or a moccasin or something I don't know about that's slightly warmer than a ballet flat (without being overly clunky)? I'm open to colors or neutrals. Ideas? Thanks!"

Hi Emily! Outblush Operative Leann here to help you out. It can be tricky to find cute warm shoes, but here are some options. Ugg actually has some pretty cute shoes that don't look like marshmallow boots, and you can even buy the inserts to stick into other shoes to help warm them up. Also, why not try a cute pair of trouser socks with your ballet flats? If patterns don't look right with your shoes, stick to neutrals and skin tones.

Thanks for the suggestions! Most of these are probably too casual for what I'm looking for, but I may check out some ugg moccasins (or Frye has some cute ones!), or go for some booties when I don't want boots that come up to my knees.
