Personal Shopper: Size 6W Heels for Anna

Anna wrote, "Hi, I've had this problem for quite some time now and it's driving me bonkers. I love heels and platforms (I refuse to wear anything less than 3 inches - I'm 5'1", so I get away with it) and I have fairly tiny feet (I usually wear a size 6) but I have a high arch, high instep and fairly wide foot. Apparently, this is unheard of, as almost every single pair of size 6 high-heeled sandals out there is made for women with flat, narrow feet. Basically, I end up getting a size 7 or 8 which, as you can imagine, isn't all that comfortable. Help, please! Thanks so much!"

Anna, we'll deal mostly with the size + width problem, since high heel removeable insoles (try Dr. Scholls) can help with the instep & arch problems you're having. Cole Haan, Gabriella Rocha, Type Z, J. Renee, Sofft, and Ditto by VanEli are good designers, and it's pretty easy to narrow searches by size & width at DSW, Zappos, Payless, and other online shoe stores. That being said, we've rounded up some of our favorite 6W high heels for you... Hope you like 'em!

1 - Ditto by VanEli Necys Sandal Wedge ($40 on sale, in 3 colors)

2 - Cole Haan Carma OT Air Pump ($213 on sale, in 11 colors)

3 - Type Z Colleen Heels ($62 on sale, in 16 colors)

4 - Sofft Women's Olina Heels ($100, in 5 colors)

5 - Gabriella Rocha Athens Heels ($66, in 6 colors)

I have a similar issue to Anna's: Size 6W and a high arch ... and going from regular to wide often means the shoe is too big.

My solution is going with the bigger wide shoe, and throwing in a Dr. Scholls for my flats and a SuperFeet for my heels ( http://www.superfeet.com/products/Women_s_3_4_High_Heel.aspx ). I've got a pair of each that I just switch in and out of all my shoes.
