Sonia writes: "Dear Outblush, First, you are awesome and are my absolute favorite daily work break. Second, I need help on so many fronts...But will only bring up one main one. I recently moved to a new apartment, and have not decorated it at all, lacking in both time and creativity. Most importantly, I have a one-year-old boy, and his room and play-corner are looking kind of drab and sad. In the old place, we had decals on his walls, but they half peeled off by themselves, and then he finished the job once he became mobile. So, I am looking for non-decal wall art and other decorations to brighten up toddler space. Preferably not too expensive... Thank you so much!"
Hi Sonia, I, Rachel H., Outblush Operative, am Mommy to a beautiful baby boy myself (mine will be one in November!) so I know how it feels to want to make to make the world beautiful for your bundle. My son's room is decorated with a combination of colorful thrift store artwork and some educational stuff. So, hit the thrift store for some color spots, and then check out some of the fun learning oriented items I chose.
1 - Oopsy Daisy My ABCs Wall Art ($24) The different things for each letter are so gosh darn cute on this one.
2 - IKEA Barnslig Mirror ($20) My son loves to look at himself in the mirror, so we hung this one in his room at his eye level. It's made of tough stuff, so he can't break it when he tries to hit Mirror Baby in the face.
3 - Leaps and Bound Magic Wall Panel and Magnetic Accessories ($12-$20) This might be a little beyond him now, but just you wait...
4 - Fun Time Around Town Rug ($20-$63) A rug is an easy way to enliven a space. Your little future city planner will love playing with his toy cars on this bad boy.
5 - Pottery Barn Kids Personalized Growth Chart ($79) Growth charts are fun, and it's always good to have something with his sweet lil' moniker on it so he can start to recognize his name in writing.
6 - Pottery Barn Kids Star Art Cable ($39) You could easily save yourself the $39 and string something like this up yourself. Use it to display family photos, his artwork, or whatever!
