Chelsea writes: I have been trying to find something to buy for my boyfriend for Christmas and I'm having a really hard time. He has recently gotten into asian cooking and has been cooking stir fry and ramen non stop. I think it would be pretty cool to find him and very authentic but modern set of ramen bowls for his dishes that he cooks.. every day of the week.. aha. Please help me find some funky ramen bowls for him! He would absolutely love it!
Hi Chelsea. Mr. Mitchy just so happens to be a ramen aficionado so I asked him for some advice. A good ramen bowl should be wide (at least six inches) or deep, or ideally both. I don't know where you live, but if you have a Japanese market around (Mitsuwa, Marukai) they usually have a decent selection of bowls. But if you don't, here's a few online selections. Ittadakimasu!
1 - Deep Jade Green Bowls - Set of 5 ($65)
2 - Bowl Kobiki Hanamaki ($18)
3 - Bowl Sabimarumon ($16)
4 - Japanese Takokarakusa Bowl Set of 4 ($35)
5 - Karakusa Noodle Bowl ($26 on sale)
6 - Olive Green Soup Bowl ($12 on sale)
7 - Blue and White Seaweed and Crab Japanese Noodle Bowl ($11 on sale)
8 - Noodle Bowl in Turquoise Glaze ($32)
9 - Smiling Blue Cat Porcelain Noodle Bowl ($10)
10 - Udon Bowl Set ($79)
Mitchy here: I'd be happy to never put on another pair of pants. What this means for you is that I love all kinds of dress shopping - especially cute patterned dresses and party dresses. I also love colorful apparel and jewelry as well as vintage-styled home decor. Other things I don't usually put on resumes: expert cat wrangler, road tripper, and connoisseur of bad movies.

I have these (http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/udon-noodle-bowls), and they are fairly awesome. If you live in LA, you can go to the Bauer Pottery warehouse sales and usually score them for about $5 each.
