LBD, dark jeans, day to night versatile tops...I don't know where to start! Oh & did I mention my humongous (size 11!!!!) feet? Yeah those make it hard to find good staple accessories also. I need stuff that will last, isn't crazy expensive, and works with my curves. Specially, the rack - tummy - hips area. :) Anyway I love love love your blog and would love love love if you had any awesome suggestions!"
Finding good basics for us curvy dames shouldn't be difficult, but sadly, it is. Tip: to preserve your clothes, we recommend washing them on the gentle cycle and letting them air dry, since the harsh heat of a dryer can shrink and fade clothes before their time. Some of our favorite plus-sized stores include Alight.com, Old Navy, Torrid, Target, Lane Bryant, and Avenue. For cheap, trendy shoes, you might be surprised to find that Target and Payless often carry up to a size 12 in women's shoes.
- Old Navy Women's Plus Low-Rise Boot-Cut Jeans ($33) - A good basic silhouette without embellishments, available in eight sizes and three inseam lengths, in a nice dark wash for work or play.
- Old Navy Women's Plus Jersey Cowl-Neck Top ($23) - Available in 3 colors, this simple-yet-chic top can be dressed up for work with a nice necklace, cardigan & trousers, or dressed down with jeans and ballet flats.
- Torrid Grey Chiffon Henna Print Caftan ($38) - We love flowy tops like this, since they drape nicely over curves. This one features a cinch-tie waist so you can adjust it easily, plus silver shot-bead trim around the neck.
- Target Mossimo Black Short-Sleeved Woven Dress ($35) - Cute LBD, no? Features a v-neck, cap sleeves, and a flattering knee length.
- Merona Kelly Green Sleeveless Dress ($25) - Cute color, and a wrap silhouette is always good, since it hides the tummy, keeps the girls in check, and creates a defined waistline.
- Merona Plus 3/4 Sleeve Red Faux Wrap Top ($12) - Again, a wrap top = defined silhouette and some figure control.
- Unique BlueJay Top ($24) - The banded surplice empire waist is a nice touch, and the print is very on-trend. Pair with a cardigan & pencil skirt or trousers for work.
- Lane Bryant Right Fit Lafayette Trousers ($50-55) - Available in six colors, these slightly boot-cut trousers make legs look longer and your stomach look smaller. Choose from three different fits to suit your waist & hips.
- Lane Bryant Faux Wrap Suiting Skirt ($50) - Every basics wardrobe needs a good black skirt! The knee length is classic, and the faux-wrap detailing hides your tummy.
- Avenue Chic Buttoned Cardigan ($20 on sale) - Available in four colors, and has a flattering longer length that drapes nicely over hips and bust.
