Personal Shopper: New Dresses for the New Elkie

Elkie wrote: "Dear Outblush, I can not tell you how much I enjoy the blog and avidly await new posts to help break up the day at work. I bought the Wonder Woman socks (the ones with tiny capes!) for my Halloween costume this year and they were a HIT! But enough gushing, I am here for HELP!

I recently had surgery to remove 17lbs of excess skin and fat from my abdomen that had built up due to my 75lbs of weight loss over the past two years. In that time I have completed 6 1/2 marathons (13.1 miles), 3 sprint triathlons (15.5 miles), and one 1/2 distance Ironman (yes, that one is 70.3 miles at once!). The results are AWESOME and I am very happy with it (in spite of the two month recovery and 31 inch suture I am still working on healing from!) BUT I am so far out of my realm when it comes to clothes now. I am working on losing more weight so I don't want to invest in a huge wardrobe just yet. The other issue is that while my waist is now a size 18, my thighs are still a size 22! So pants (no matter what the shape and rise) all sag in the front and look goofy. However I work full time at a publishing house and I am finishing my PhD...so I need to look professional (not like a clown!) My compromise is to try to find several work appropriate dresses and/or skirts that I can wear while I lose the rest of my weight.

So that is what I need help with. Where can I find several work appropriate skirts/dresses that will last a few seasons while I work by booty (literally) off the rest of the way? I live and work in Oklahoma, so I can use sweaters and leggings to wear most clothes pretty much year round.

Thanks a million,
AKA Swimming in my clothes"

mitchy-dino.jpgMitchy here: I'd be happy to never put on another pair of pants. What this means for you is that I love all kinds of dress shopping - especially cute patterned dresses and party dresses. I also love colorful apparel and jewelry as well as vintage-styled home decor. Other things I don't usually put on resumes: expert cat wrangler, road tripper, and connoisseur of bad movies.

I just wanted to note that I ordered #5 on 1/13 and it was never shipped. I paid for it and b and lu never sent it. They do not respond to emails and their phone number is no longer in service. Don't order from that company!!
