Personal Shopper: Navy Blue Casual Maid of Honor Dresses for Laura's Wedding

Laura M. wrote, "Hello Personal Shopper! I am recently engaged with four beautiful and delightful bridesmaids. I have chosen a color (navy) for my bridal party and have encouraged them to find whatever they like and run it by me. Three of them love similar iterations of a navy dress from Lilly Pulitzer. The fourth, my maid of honor, can't wear these styles due to size and shape constraints. The wedding will be in June on the east coast by the water - hot and humid! Please help me find something light and breezy (linen? Eyelet?) in navy for my beloved MOH! Thanks, La"

Laura, as a plus-sized woman myself, (Janetor here, btw) can I just say that it is so lovely that you care about your MOH and want her to look and feel fabulous on your special day? Props to you! This late in the summer, there aren't a ton of navy blue dresses left that aren't made in swelteringly hot fabrics like polyester or satin. These are all decent cotton, jersey, or lawn options that can be altered to suit (sleeves/length shortened, etc), but if she doesn't like any of them, consider an Etsy Alchemy request, or contact a local seamstress. Good luck, and congratulations on your recent engagement!

1 - Kiyonna Delilah Long Dress ($118, could easily be trimmed shorter by a good tailor!)

2 - Catherines Sleeveless Swiss Dot Sundress ($41-46 on sale)

3 - Torrid Navy Braided-Strap Dress ($58)

4 - Baba-Blue Dress ($100)

5 - Kiyonna Tory Cinch Dress ($98)

6 - Talbots Ruffled Shirtdress ($35 on sale)

7 - Mon Amie Flutter Sleeve Smocked Empire Waist Dress ($47 on sale)

FYI - I got a gorgeous bridesmaid (maid of honor, natch) dress at David's Bridal. It was navy blue, very flattering, tea length, and not overly hot. It came in sizes from like 0-30 or some gloriously wide range like that, so there was an option for everyone! I felt beautiful and comfy in my plus size dress on my BFF's big day. :)
