Personal Shopper: Kelli's Wedding Guest Dress Do Over

Kelli writes: I LOVE my silk maxi dress (in Everglade). Its comfortable, it looks fab, and I find it to be pretty versitile. However is it too casual to wear to a black tie wedding that I'll be attending next month? And if it is appropriate, what accessories should I pair with it to emphasize my waist a bit more and dress it up?? HELP!

Kelli, I hate to break it to you but your Ann Taylor dress just ain't gonna cut it for a black tie affair. That being said, I found you a dress in the exact same shade along with some accessories that fit your budget of $200-250. Knowing how much you love the versatility of the original dress, this option also works in a lot of different settings, as do the accessories I chose. I just couldn't seem to choose which accessories went best. So you and the readers get to decide which is best. Mazel tov! -Magzilla

This is an excellent teaching moment: maxi dresses are CASUAL, ladies. They are not dressy, and they are not appropriate work wear. Yes, they are long, but long does not equal formal.

Come on outblush, I love you but did you really have to use "Aint"?
I agree, maxi dresses are CASUAL & are nothing else!
