Rachel K. wrote, "Dearest Outblush, I know you've answered a couple similar personal shopper requests recently, but please hear my plea! I graduated from college recently, and started my first real job a couple of weeks ago. I am good on pants and shoes, but what tops can I wear to work in the summer? My summer wardrobe right now consists of threadless tees and tank tops, and I know those aren't appropriate! I'm running out of polos to wear! I've tried looking to my colleagues outfits, but they're older ladies, and I don't want to look like a mom! Also, I'm broke!! I can't afford $40 for one top when I'm needing to buy enough to last me until it's cold enough for sweaters! Help! Please? Thank you, Rachel K. P.S. I love love love your site and I've been reading it forevers! For reals!"
Rachel, Janetor here, and I've been in your shoes before. Trust me when I say that you can find great work clothes for cheap at Target, Kohl's, and Macy's. With that in mind, here are seven blouses, all under $30, that should work until you build up some savings to get some more pieces. If you take care of them - i.e. wash them with gentle detergent, line dry them, and iron them gently - they should last you quite awhile.
2 - Apt. 9 Zigzag Satin Blouse ($18 on sale, in 3 colors)
3 - NY Collection Short Sleeve Chiffon Floral Print Blouse ($30 on sale)
4 - NY Collection Ruched Short Sleeve Button Front Blouse ($30 on sale)
5 - Apt. 9 Striped Blouse ($13 on sale, in 4 colors)
6 - Apt. 9 Hammered-Satin Blouse ($19 on sale, in 3 colors))
7 - Mossimo Black Women's Ruffle Neck Blouse ($20)
