Personal Shopper: Housewarming Gifts for Patrick's Friends

Patrick S. wrote, begging for help: "I'm having a hard time finding a great housewarming gift for married friends of ours. They bought a house and are almost done doing some in depth finish changes, making everything a little darker and contemporary. The problem is that they went through the first round of housewarming gifts, and the wedding gifts, so there isn't anything obvious that they need. What do you get newly 30 people for their second home? The female half is stylish and loves all things sugary and Ann Taylor-y. The male half loves buffalo sauce, white tees and working out. The thing of it is, they don't have too much in common from a gifting perspective, and I don't really have a price point other than maybe sub-$250. Help!"

Wow, thanks for all the info, Patrick! We agree, the happy couple probably has everything they need, so it's up to you to "gild the lily" with some stuff they'd want and both enjoy.

1 - Solar Bug Eliminator ($110 on sale) Whether he's grilling with the guys, or she's having a wine night with the girls, no one likes mosquitoes. This attractive big eliminator will keep the skeeters at bay AND look good.

2 - Nespresso C100 Espresso Machine, Essenza Single Serve ($249, in 2 colors) Who doesn't love coffee? It's sleek, to match their style, but will provide barista-quality brew day after day. (PS - A caffeinated marriage is a happy one!)

3 - Rosendahl Wine Accessories Gift Set ($92 on sale) Made from polished spring steel, this set of foil cutter, corkscrew, wine stopper, and pourer is totally display-worthy.

4 - "Gather" Sign Handmade by Amish craftsman, "Rusty Merv," it's weatherproof, but would be equally at home on their deck or in their dining room - or the "man cave..."

5 - Star and Moon Fire Pit and Grill ($149) - Doing double duty as a romantic fire and a convenient grill, it's perfect for outdoor entertaining.

6 - Seeds of Life Oak Tree Kit ($30) In the South, oak trees symbolize strength. Gift them with several of these to plant in their yard as an enduring symbol of their marriage. Over time, they'll grow big and strong, and provide shade and refuge for birds.
