Personal Shopper: High Waist Non-Mom Jeans for Lucy

Lucy writes: "I need some help finding a pair of good, reliable jeans. I'm about to throw away all my old pairs and need a fresh start. I know it's a difficult and personal request, but any recommendations would be much appreciated. If it's too difficult to find specific cuts/styles of jeans, a list of brands would be extremely helpful. I don't know where to start. I prefer a dark wash, semi-professional looking jean (no rips/tears/weird washes). I LOVE higher waist. Not necessarily to the bellybutton, but somewhere around there. This is a challenge because high-waist jeans like that look a bit like mom jeans (yikes). Since I'm so short, I prefer a slimmer cut. Also, I'd like to try them on in a store if at all possible. If they're only available online, that's fine too, though!"

Hey, Lucy - I appreciate your preferences, since I'm also a warrior in the battle against unnecessary muffin tops, and those low-rise jeans are primary perpetrators. Luckily for all of us, the high-waist trend is back with a vengeance, with many top denim brands offering flattering styles. Here are a few picks that look delightfully different from those baggy-bottomed mom favorites.

1. DL1961 Grace High Rise Straight Leg Jean ($168)
2. True Religion Avery High Rise Straight Leg ($178)
3. Citizens of Humanity Rocket High Rise Skinny ($188)
4. Levi's High Rise Skinny Jeans ($78)
5. Joe's Jeans Easy Slim ($165)
6. GUESS 1981 High-Waisted Black Jeans ($128)

crazy-jane-profile-1.jpgCrazy Jane here: I'm a New England girl with couture tastes and a Salvation Army budget who usually ends up wearing flannel. My shopping forte: finding the impossible dream. Throw your tough stuff at me and let me go bloodhound on it. When not playing on Outblush, I'm probably yelling at my cats, getting a backrub from my hot teacher husband, or trying to turn anything animal, vegetable, or mineral I can get my hands on into booze.

...look at the preview. XD

I've become kind of enamored with #6 in the past 48 hours and I went to the mall to try them on and they are FABULOUS, just fyi.
