Personal Shopper: Curling Mascara and Tools for Laura K.

Laura K. wrote, my eyelashes grow down, rather than out or up. I cannot find an eyelash curler/mascara to lift them up. I've tried the storied Shiseido Eyelash Curler and many different kinds of mascara and nothing works. Does anyone else have the same problem/found a solution? Thanks!

Hey Laura, Robin here with a few thoughts and products. One tip a lot of people swear by is adding a little heat - makes sense, that's how we curl the hair on our heads, right? You can either blast your eyelash curler with your hairdryer for a few seconds (test it with your finger before you use it to prevent burns!) or check out one of the heated curlers below. Also, while it's recommended to curl before you apply mascara, you can swipe a coat of clear mascara on before you curl to hold it a bit better. I've also got two fabulous curling mascaras for you. Good luck getting flirty lashes!

1. Cover Girl Pro Natural Lash Mascara in Clear ($5)
2. Panasonic EH2331P Heated Eyelash Curler ($26)
3. Panasonic EH2351AC Heated Eyelash Curler ($10)
4. Estee Lauder Illusionist Intense Curling Mascara ($20)
5. Vincent Longo The Curl Mascara ($23)

Thank you so much for addressing my issue. The clear mascara before curling is a brilliant idea. I am eager to try these products out. Thanks again!! :)

I love the EL mascara~! Love and also want to Rave about a heated eyelash curler that is the rolls royce of curlers and the absolute best to me. The Hot Lashes heated lash curler~! Best I have ever used and tried. My lashes stayed super curly. Uses a 2pc system with a super good metal curler and a small pink heater base thingy that heats the pad in the curler.
I read reviews on Amazon and got mine at HotLashes site. Would be worth your reviewing and trying that one! Heard about it from makeup artists~!Major holy grail for me. HTH~

I don't know if you misquoted, but the most coveted regular eyelash curler that I know of is the Shu Uemura eyelash curler (http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/_us/_en/accessories/eyelash-curlers/eyelash-curler.htm). It works great on my stick straight eyelashes. Because of this eyelash curler, I've never tried a heated one... but it would probably be your next best option!!
