Personal Shopper: Black closed-toe wedges and a grey skirt for Lauren W's work wardrobe

Lauren W. wrote, "You are the best. Really. I wish I could condense all the great feelings I have for you into something succinct and glowing, but I'll have to leave it at this because I need the word space to describe my problem. I work in high-end retail, and while my job is always exciting, our dress code is... more of a yawn. Basically: black or light grey dress pants (subtle patterns but no bright pinstripes, not cropped), black or light grey dress skirts (knee length or a couple inches above, again subtle patterns), long sleeve white oxfords and plain (read: VERY PLAIN, no ruffles or details) black long sleeve or three-quarter sweaters, and black closed-toe shoes (sorry, no boots). And when it's below 80 degrees, black or nude (yuck) stockings are required with skirts. To a certain extent, I love how easy this makes dressing in the morning. But I also like unique clothes and putting together fun outfits. I'm set with pants, shirts, sweaters, and flats, and have resigned to spicing things up with printed tights and headbands. And now I'm stuck. I want cute clothes that match my personality for work, but still leave room in my budget (recent grads have to pay the bills!) for out-of-work dressing up. So here's my challenge: help me find cute, black, closed-toe wedges and a winter grey skirt for work, while staying around $70 for the shoes and around $50 for the skirt. I can last all day in wedges, especially with a platform, and I'm thinking a darker grey wool or nice tweed would be cute. I like styles that are tailored and vintagey, and something that's fitted in the waist to show off my curves - the one way I'm allowed to be sexy at work! Okay, I'm done rambling. Thanks for listening - my wardrobe and wallet really appreciate it!! - Lauren"

Watch out for Newport News for quality and sizing issues... I've gotten a few pairs of their shoes, consistently noticed poor construction and weird, varying sizes.

I always found these round toe wedges to be extremely sexy, especially suiting women with robust legs and ankles.
