Says Jaimie: "So I am beach bound in a week, and I am looking for a big beach blanket or oversized beach towel to keep me nice and comfy and sand free! I knew if anyone could help me with my search it would be the fantastic fabulous ladies who make outblush so amazing. The only catch, besides my short notice departure date, is that I need international shipping as I hail from your northern neighbour Canada!"
Hi, Jaimie - Marian the Contrarian here! Would this be a Canadian beach, a U.S. beach, or something more exotic? 'Cause you know, international towel standards can vary a lot. (It's getting late in the day. Don't listen to me too hard.)
A 1) Sunshine Blanket Tote ($22 US) would be a solid choice, I think, for several reasons. It's fleece on one side and plastic on the other, so it won't soak through from underneath or trap a lot of sand. It also, as the picture demonstrates, folds up into a tote with a flap. And it comes in nine patterns, so if you don't like blue stripes, you can just forget the blue stripes.
The maker of 2) The Perfect Beach Blanket would seem to be pretty confident in the comfiness and machine-washability of this acrylic yarn creation. (As is only proper, for $119 US). Then again, you could decide that a big towel is a big towel and grab a huge, brightly-colored 3) bath sheet ($30). (Am I only recommending this because one of the color options is "Green Toad"? Who knows?)
Other not-strictly-speaking beach items that could do the job might be this large, super-absorbent 4) yoga towel ($25 US, inquire by phone for Canadian shipping) or a big print throw blanket, like 5) this one with Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life on it ($50 US). If an interesting design is what you're after, a blanket may be the way to go.
Enjoy your seaside vacation, Jaimie! Send us a postcard?
