Emily writes, Hi ladies, I've been hearing about the benefits of standing and the dangers of sitting for long periods of time, so I wanted to look into a standing desk. Sadly, most of the ones I've found are around $200, and I'm hoping for something under $100 since I don't plan to use it as my only desk (I can't completely give up sitting!). I've considered using a music stand, but it would be nice to have something sturdy enough to set my laptop on that's a convenient standing height. Can you help me avoid the school pounds so I can stand while studying? Thanks!
Hey Emily, thanks for helping me get off my butt, too! I've been seeking out a standing desk, so this was a fun one. Before we get into ready made products, I want to point you toward Ikea Hackers where you can see how people have fashioned standing desks out of bits and pieces from Ikea, many for under or near your $100 price point. Moving on to actual desks or tables, here are a few options, including some pub tables. A full table set with 4 chairs might be too spendy, but the table itself can often come in around $100. Good luck! - Robin
Uppity Glass Adjustable Bar Table ($95) This solves the problem of being the right height or not since it's hydraulic
2. OSP Precision Laptop Stand ($81 - $98 depending on color)
3. Laptop Computer Desk/Podium ($60)
4. Tabletote ($50)
5. ACME Espresso Dia Pub Table ($101)
