Personal Shopper - A Boy-Cut Swimsuit for Victoria

Victoria wrote, "Hello Personal Shopper Goddesses,
So I am one of apparently two women on the planet that want my lower region fully covered when going swimming because I can't seem to find a cute suit that functions as such. (I hate the horrible shave bumps and weeks of itching that come along with shaving that bikini area. OUCH!!!) No suits that creep high on the hips for this "jungle" girl! I am flat out challenging you to find me a cute boy-short suit to replace the only one I have that's aging quicker than a male mosquito (BTW that's 10-20 days for his full life span) SO HURRY! And hey if there actually is some supercalifragilisticexpialidocious shave cream that will prevent the bumps and the fiercely itchy regrowth, I'd DIE to know about that too! Thanks, Jane (It's actually Victoria but I just had to ride the Jungle-theme through to the end!)"

You, Jane. Us, Outblush. Ooga booga. As for the shave cream, we'll let our readers chime in on that, but the swimsuits... now that we can do!

Don't want shave bumps
then don't shave
wax
and loofah loofah loofah between
wax sessions
I think shaving and itchy shave bumps belong in the dark ages

Two votes for waxing! It's not as bad as you probably think it is (this is coming from someone who dies after 4 weeks of "growth", though).*

HOWEVER, if you're absolutely definitely oh-my-gawd-I'm-gonna-die-if-I-wax stuck on shaving, look for Bikini Zone creme in your local drugstore. It kills the itch, pain, bumps and whatever else with the miracle that is lidocaine. Lidocaine has physical powers like valium has mental powers. It's amazing. Use it! See here for packaging: http://www.bikinizone.com/medicated-creme.shtml

No matter which shrub removal method you choose, you should REALLY (as in MUST must must!) exfoliate. Cheapest & easiest method with best results: rub about 1 tbsp thin cooking oil (canola, sunflower, veggie, NOT olive) to the whole area (it's good for you!) and follow with a bunch of sugar/salt/crushed rice. Salt is best cuz it helps speed up healing, disinfects, naturally occurs ALL over your skin and prevents infection. Sugar is ok, but promotes infection cuz bacteria feed off it. The area will stink if you don't rinse super well, especially if you don't mow the whole lawn. Crushed rice is completely neutral. It's not my fav (I swear by table salt) but it's better than sugar.

If you find that the skin just doesn't heal well, try a topical cortisone cream for up to 3 days. Cortisone is a steroid, so using it too much can turn Area 51 into a spectacular breeding spot for some funky stuff, especially if you shower instead of bathe.

Hey, I shave more than I do wax, I'm just too lazy to wax. Anyways, using a loofah and a scrub definitely help, but with the salt, it will burn if u have any cuts from shaving down there. If you still want to shave I recommend getting a bikini trimmer (like Venus or a mini razor with a comb) and then going over with a normal razor (I like Schtick with the soap bar). Another thing you can do is just trim down there instead of shaving it. Hope this helps :D

I swear by Avon depilatory...it is gentle but does a fabulous job on the bikini area. However, it is best to use it just before going to bed--you will be a tad sensitive for a couple of hours after application. Avon also makes a wonderful facial depilatory.

Check out the schick intuition. Great for bikini, bad for legs. Bliss bikini trimmer and eos shave cream (check out the outblush recommendation) also rock.

If you use Tend Skin after you shave, no bumps! It works!

Bliss ingrown eliminating pads. Sephora carries them - work well for waxing or shaving. And, it doesn't sting!

Victoria,

I SWEAR by Hovan's Bikini Saver Medi-cream. It's removes redness super quickly, doesn't burn or tingle or anything weird, and a little goes a long way. Love it!
