Okay, we're going to try to tell you this story with a straight face. One of our significant others travels extensively, routinely hopping the globe on business. This significant other recently (quietly) confessed to something rather shocking. No, he doesn't hire "companionship" on his trips, but he does sleep with the bathroom light on. It seems that a totally dark room in a strange city (or country) skeeves him out a bit. Add to that the fact that security is often "iffy" in foreign countries, he simply cannot fall asleep with all the lights off. We've found the perfect solution for him (and us as we travel): Dead Bolt Security Straps ($15/2). They're made of industrial-strength nylon and wrap around the deadbolt and doorknob of the hotel room, making it virtually impossible to open with a lockpick or key. They slip easily into luggage and install in seconds. Sweet dreams, sweet man.
