A few weeks ago, we checked out Twenty One Pilots at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. We were half-expecting to be the oldest people in attendance, but were surprised to see teenagers and adults alike jumping passionately in unison to the band's popular single, "Holding On To You." The Ohio duo's mix of rap infused tech rock is surprisingly mature, but catchy enough to pull in even a casual listener. As the latest breakout star from the Fueled by Ramen label, they follow in the footsteps of bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, and Paramore. Their latest album, Vessel ($10), is a refreshingly poignant collection of tracks. "Car Radio" is a beautiful and introspective testament to lead singer Tyler Joseph's abilities as a songwriter.
