The Flaming Lips' Embryonic

*Sigh*... Embryonic ($10), the newest venture into psychedelic soundscapes by The Flaming Lips, has been deemed genius by die-hard Lips fans, and a let down by others at the wayside. This effort verges on being lost in over-production, compressed values, and Wayne's usually charming voice is so distorted, we can't sense any soul. We get it. Structureless, melody-less explorations of the space of our minds are totally gnarly artistic statements, but we want that bittersweet intensity that we know and love the Lips for. There are some strands of good ideas here, but we don't want to descend that far into the rabbit hole (sober, anyway).
