Lissie: Catching a Tiger
The moment we heard Lissie's voice we knew we were in for something good. Somewhere between folk and indie rock, you'll find Lissie, mindfully strumming her guitar and singing an impassioned tune. We can't exactly pinpoint her sound, and that's partly what makes us such a fan. At times, she's reminds us of Feist, other times KT Tunstall or Sheryl Crow, and we've even found ourselves comparing her to Kurt Cobain. Videos of her covers of Kid Cudi's "Pursuit of Happiness" and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" have been gaining her fans worldwide (she's playing in the UK as we speak), so we expect big turnouts when she starts touring. Lissie's debut album, Catching A Tiger ($25) will be released in the US in August, but if you can't wait that long, you can sample some of her songs on her site, or even buy an import here.
