We were immediately captivated by the vulnerability and ethereal quality of London singer Laura Welsh's voice. Tapped as one of the artists to follow in 2014, she makes her US debut with her first album, a self-titled EP ($3). Her music is beat heavy and atmospheric, but it never distracts from Welsh's powerhouse voice. This four-track EP is best enjoyed when you can turn up the volume without apology. We particularly love her latest single, "Break the Fall." She ends the chorus with this powerful line, "I want to love you, but I'm just too cynical." Cynic or not, we love her honesty.
