For many of us, the first and last we heard from Kelis was her 2003 hit, "Milkshake." So we were pleasantly shocked last summer when we heard the first single from her new album ($10), "Jerk Ribs", a brass- and synth-tinged romp complete with Kelis' raspy vocals. The whole album is a far cry from "Milkshake", as it departs from raunchy pop tunes and heads decidedly in the direction of vintage soul and throwback R&B. And yes - there are more food-inspired songs on the album, including "Breakfast", "Cobbler", "Friday Fish Fry", and "Biscuits 'n' Gravy."
