First Aid Kit: The Big Black and The Blue
When we were 15, all we did with our sister was fight over who could use the bathroom first. Johanna and Klara Södeberg seem to harmonize as teen sisters much better than we did. Together, the sisters form the band, First Aid Kit, a Swedish folk duo with longing harmonies and beautifully crafted, narrative lyrics. The Big Black and The Blue is the band's debut album after a spurt of fame in Sweden and growing popularity in the U.S. (they'll be touring the US this summer). We were hooked after hearing "You're not Coming Home Tonight," as well as their cover of Fleet Foxes' "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song," both appropriately shot in a Swedish forest.
