Although Bastille's debut album, Bad Blood ($10), came out in early 2013, the band only started gaining traction in the US recently. During their Coachella debut this month, singer Dan Smith enthusiastically belted out the chorus to their hit "Pompeii" while simultaneously jumping in place and adding a single drum beat to the already rich percussion section. He's a multi-talented performer and it definitely shows in this strong debut album. Quiet tracks like "Oblivion" showcases the unique, raspy quality of Smith's voice, while the infectious chorus of "Things We Lost in the Fire" will get stuck in your head until their follow-up album is released.
