New Moon Merchandise: The Good, The Bad, and The UGLY
Whether or not you're a Twilight saga fan, it can't have escaped your notice that New Moon hits theaters tomorrow. And with it has come a veritable flood of fan merchandise, some authorized, most not. We've come across quite a lot of it lately, and have divided our favorites up into the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Good - We actually quite like the Twilight Beauty Just Bitten Staining Balm, ($18) despite the corny name. It contains antioxidants, natural SPF, sweet almond oil, chamomile, and lots of great natural emollients and plant extracts for a burst of moisture. The colors provide a nice flush of stain - try Blush, a vivid blood red (ha) with a little clear gloss on top for a 1940's glamour girl look.
Good - It's a little corny, but we rather like the idea of this Edward Cullen Be Safe Pill Tin. ($5) As fan gear goes, it's relatively cheap & unobtrusive, and the "Be Safe" admonition on the inside of the pillbox, IOHO, makes it the perfect spot to store a few condoms in your purse. Just don't moan out, "Oh, Edward!" at an inopportune moment.
Bad - On the other hand, Foreshadow Eyelid Primer ($11) fits into the "bad" category for a couple of reasons: It's just eyelid primer, and the name is a serious groaner. But, eyeshadow primer is a necessary step for a lot of beautistas, so we're sure this will sell briskly.
Bad - This Twilight New Moon Wolf Pack Tattoo Packing Tape ($10) might be one of the more wasteful things we've seen. They slapped a logo on a $3 roll of clear packing tape and more than tripled the price. Nice.
Ugly - You wake up in the middle of the night, roll over to face the wall, and... GAH! Shadow of a sinister intruder! You're being robbed! You'll be killed! You'll - oh. Wait. It's just your Edward Cullen Life Size Twilight Silhouette Vinyl Wall Decal. ($60) Because everyone wants to think they're being attacked at 3am.
Ugly - Is this thing a felted piece of poo? Nope. It's a Werewolf... New Moon... Twilight Saga, ($18) according to the item title. Crafted from multiple colors of wolf fur wool, it's sure to become your cat's favorite hairball toy.
