Yawn. Despite the wine and conversation hearts and cards and teddies of both kinds everywhere, are you just not grooving on the upcoming holiday? We at Outblush tend to think that shopping is an end in and of itself, but if you're not feeling the romance, we can only recommend that you give up trawling the stores for one evening and plop down on the couch with a few flicks that will, in the broader sense, get you in the mood.
The Incredibly True Adventures of 2 Girls in Love - This tomboy/princess romance is funny, sexy, and good-natured, and it was made with more enthusiasm and determination than money - listen to the director's commentary once you've seen it. ($16)
King of Hearts - It's out of print, and it's more Romantic with a capital R than with a small r, but we're telling you to find it anyway, because it's just that good. A comedy about insanity and war that's not insulting - imagine that! ($whatever the person with the used copy feels it's worth)
Train Man - Waiting for the geek to inherit the earth? This sweet film (another small-r romance) about one geeky geek and the elegant young woman he defends from a drunk on a train just might reawaken your belief in love and good intentions. ($22)
