Norman Bates, the shy proprietor of a small motel, is a quiet man with a penchant for peep holes, butcher knives, and smock dresses. Almost 50 years have passed since Psycho was released and it's still scary enough to make showers seem dangerous. Alfred Hitchcock - The Masterpiece Collection ($99) consists of fourteen of Hitchock's post-Selznick films as well as a wealth of commentary about the individual films and the director himself. Almost all of these films are fantastic representations of Hitchcock's genius and there is sure to be at least one or two films that all but the most die-hard fans haven't seen.
