Banish the boogey-man with a new shadow-friendly bedtime story, William and the Magic Ring ($19) by Laura Robinson (illustrated by Suzanne Simpson). Rhyming prose rolls off the tongue and will lull our little ones to sleep, but the real appeal are the suspenseful 3D laser-cut silhouette illustrations telling the story. The thirty-two page spiral hardcover flips under the included flashlight setup to project William's narrative through a magical forest nightscape filled with wild animals as shadows on the wall. We'll need AAA batteries, but that's it. Kiss the under-bed monsters goodbye.
