You've scrubbed the house, purchased a million dollars' worth of party supplies, food, and alcohol, and the guests are on their way. It's time to suit up and play the part of the perfect hostess. And though we're gonna tell you flat out that sometimes being a good hostess means letting go when things go wrong (and they inevitably will), we'll help you keep calm and plan an unforgettable shindig with these helpful tips and gadgets.
Super Bowl Sunday. Whether you're an avid football fan, or only interested in the commercials, Super Bowl Sunday is an American holiday that gives us an excuse to get together, share laughs, beers, and scream at the TV all day long. If you're hosting this year, you'll need a few items to make your party a success.
1 - SuperBowl 2011 Party Invitation Tickets ($13) Fill out your personal party info and receive a high-res file in return. You can print as many as you need or better yet, take the file (via USB) to your local print shop and have them whip out perfect invites!
2 - Personalized Stainless Steel Whistle Keychain ($10 each) For a small get together, hand out these whistles as party favors. Engrave them with each party goer's team of choice, and "Super Bowl XLV" for a souvenir they'll always keep.
4 - Green Bay Packers Cheesehead Hat ($20) No Green Bay fan goes without the cheesehead! Sure, it looks ridiculous, but it's all in the name of fun, right?
5 - NFL Football Cocktail Napkins ($4 for 16) A Super Bowl Party is decidedly NOT the time to bust out with the good cloth napkins. Let your guests soak up spills with these football-shaped paper products.
6 - Official Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL Terrible Towel ($5) The Packers have the cheesehead, and the Steelers have the Terrible Towel. Hand out these commemorative Super Bowl XL Towel to Pittsburgh fans for good luck. The Steelers won in 06, can they do it again?
7 - Junk Food NFL Shield Varsity T-Shirt ($32) Chances are you're a fan of one of the other 30 teams that didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year. Instead of wearing a team tee for one day, nab a generic NFL shirt you can wear again and again!
8 - Football Pool Game Party Supplies ($5) It's corny, but one of the best things about the Super Bowl is the game pool. Hand out ribbons along with all that cashola your pool winners receive. Lucky ducks!
