All too often we vow to rid our lives of the chaos and clutter associated with things we no longer use. Instead of just throwing them away, this year we're pairing our desire to downsize with our desire to do some good.
Here are just a few ways to execute this double duty.
Shoes. Eyeglasses. Cellphones. Prom dresses. CDs and DVDs. Men's Suits. Women's Suits. Cars. Toys.
As always, we want to hear from you. Where are you favorite places to put your used goods to better use?

I have a personal rule that I (almost always) follow- whenever I buy new clothes, I give away at least one article of clothing that I no longer wear and is still in good shape. I take my clothes to Goodwill or Dress for Success.

I usually call my local hoarder and tell them I have some irresistible boxes full of junk.
I that doesn't work, I donate it to a charity thrift store.

The church I grew up in has a program called "extended family" where they support families transitioning from shelters into housing by helping with the move and furnishing their new home. I donate any good condition kitchen and other household items to them.
Oh, and just a note on deciding whether an item is in good enough shape to donate - if you wouldn't give it to a close friend, don't give it to a stranger. :)

I like to throw "swith&bitch." I like to get my friends together with all of our junk and throw them in a pile, drink, chat, and trade our junk. Left over stuff goes to local non-profit organization like the Children's Center.
