Sweet Avenue Bake Shop DIY Cupcake Kit

Some may say the humble cupcake is on its way "out," but we beg to differ, thanks to the box of cup-baked goodness that just landed on our desks from Sweet Avenue Bake Shop. Made from all-natural ingredients and certified dairy- and egg-free, they're so moist & sweetly delicious that we wouldn't have known they were vegan if we hadn't been told. Stop by their Rutherford, NJ shop to sample rotating weekly flavors like Tiramisu and Limoncello Sparkle, or do a little experimentation from afar with their DIY Cupcake Kit ($25, including shipping). Included are your choice of three cupcakes, 3 wee pots of icing, and 3 kinds of sprinkles or toppers, plus spreaders, for a myriad of decadently divine combinations. Our staff favorite? The red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing & red sprinkles - a classic for a reason!

Full disclosure: Outblush received a free sample of this product.

P.S. They also offer several gluten-free flavors, holla!

while i'm not sure who thought up the idea first, http://www.saintcupcake.com/index.php/flight/cupcakes does the same exact thing for a bit cheaper (3 cupcakes for $12+shipping) very cute idea either way :)

I say this as someone who's not generally a cupcake lover, but Sweet Avenue's wares are *the best* pastries I've ever had, period. (Full disclosure: I've been friends with the owners for years, but no -- they didn't put me up to this, and I'm not just writing this to be a good friend.) I first had their cupcakes on a visit down to NJ about a year after they opened their shop, and I was really blown away! Since I live about 3 hrs. from their shop now, I've ordered this DIY kit whenever I've had someone to share it with. (Because it's more fun to spread the calories/addiction to others, amirite?) Seriously, it's worth the cash. To give you an example of how awesome these cupcakes are, my favorite flavor of theirs is the "Sexy Sadie" cupcake, made with a red velvet base and vegan cream cheese frosting. What's so amazing about this is that *I've never liked red velvet ANYTHING before,* and this was my fave cupcake out of the several yummy flavors I tried!
