There are two words that made us fall in love with the 2012 Shelby 1000: barely legal. That's thanks to the 950-horsepower engine Shelby squeezes into the expertly-modified body of your donor 2012 Shelby GT500, which in standard form putters along at a measly 800 hp. Forget that. Can you even imagine what we could do with 950 horses under our hoods? We can, and it involves a young Steve McQueen beside us in the cockpit and a whole bunch of lawmen on our tail. All we need to make that dream a reality is a GT500 "starter car", an extra $150,000, and a time machine.
