Ad Hoc and Bouchon are also fab cookbooks - both are easier to cook than French Laundry - the techniques and tools are for the more advanced chef, while Ad Hoc & Bouchon are more obtainable and more managable.

Ad Hoc At Home is especially accessible to the at home cook. And if you ever get a chance to eat at Per Se in New York City, or try one of their macarons from Bouchon, do not under any circumstances turn it down!
