Patrick Swayze: The Time of My Life
We were sitting at home surfing the web last night when we found out that our first girlhood crush, Patrick Swayze, passed away last night after a battle with pancreatic cancer. From Dirty Dancing to that Chippendales SNL skit with Chris Farley, everything Swayze did was touched with his signature grace and good humor. (We will confess to watching To Wong Foo: Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar about a gazillion times.) The memoir he recently wrote with wife Lisa Niemi, The Time of My Life, ($17) is due to be released September 29, and we can't think of a more fitting tribute than this story of a loving marriage that spanned nearly 35 years despite the frenetic demands of Hollywood. Rest in peace, Mr. Swayze.
