New Pink Cook Book
If you can't get a hold of your mom or best friend to ask how long it takes to cook a whole chicken in the oven - Google will be happy to help. But it's also nice to have a reliable cook book on hand to refer to for basic recipes and kitchen questions. The New Pink Cook Book by Better Homes and Gardens ($10) is just the thing. This book has been refined and updated over the years (this is the 13th edition) and is a veritable cornucopia of valuable kitchen know-how. The book is organized with colored tabs that are easy to flip through, and is ring bound so you can take out whatever sheet you need and leave the bulk of the book on the shelf. The Pink edition also has a section devoted to eating healthy and guest recipes from famous chefs and celebs.
