Okay, we're not going to come right out and say that this collection of short stories ($12) by Danish writer Dorthe Nors is depressing, but it certainly falls under the category of solemn. Nors is a masterful storyteller, and writes vivid accounts of seemingly mundane human interactions that end up being tinged with contemplation, regret, violence, and sorrow. So why read it? Because each microstory is relatable, and kinda beautiful, too.
